Job Profile

For our Industry Field Customer Support team, we are looking for a Service Engineer – Automation & PLC Systems (Competition Platforms) to support automation and safety control systems at client sites operating 24×7 in the India-North region.

This is a client on-site, 24×7 rotational shift-wise role, focusing on PLC-based automation, Safety PLC integration, HMI, and industrial networking, with emphasis on operational availability and safety compliance.

Involvement in retrofit, modernization, or PLC migration projects will be planned and limited, and not part of routine shift responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site, 24×7 rotational shift-wise support for automation, PLC, and safety systems.
  • Attend automation and safety-related breakdowns within defined SLA, ensuring safe fault isolation and recovery.
  • Diagnose and maintain PLC systems such as Beckhoff TwinCAT PLC, Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix/CompactLogix), ABB PLC, Schneider PLC, etc.
  • Support Safety PLC systems by diagnosing safety trips, safety I/O faults, communication errors, and interlock failures.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot HMI/SCADA systems linked to automation and safety statuses and third-party integration.
  • Diagnose and maintain industrial communication networks including:
    • Modbus
    • EtherNet/IP
    • PROFINET
    • Profibus
    • ControlNet
    • TIA Portal
    • Server Client Architecture
    • CFC
    • S7-Graph
    • Telegram Transmission between Level-1 & Level-2
    • Safety-related communication
  • Perform PLC and Safety PLC program backups, restoration, and minor configuration updates under authorization.
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance, including safety function verification as per site norms.
  • Prepare diagnostic reports, RCA, downtime analysis, and safety incident reports.
  • Support automation and safety system migration or modernization during planned shutdowns or projects.
  • Ensure strict compliance with functional safety requirements, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), and EHS practices.
  • Experience with TENOVA Furnace will be an added advantage.

Qualification Required

Qualification & Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Industrial Automation Engineering.
  • 3–8 years of hands-on experience in PLC automation and safety systems in continuous manufacturing plants.
  • Strong exposure to competition PLC platforms including:
    • Beckhoff TwinCAT 3
    • Allen-Bradley
    • ABB
    • Schneider
  • Practical knowledge of Safety PLC integration, including Safety I/O modules, interlocks, and safety circuits.
  • Experience with industrial networking and automation diagnostics.
  • Ability to interpret automation drawings, safety schematics, PLC logic, and network diagnostics.
  • Willingness to work in 24×7 rotational shifts at customer sites.
  • Strong troubleshooting discipline and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Siemens PLC, Safety PLC (S7-F), and TIA Portal will be an added advantage.

Preferred (Good to Have)

  • OEM certification or exposure from Beckhoff, Rockwell, ABB, Schneider, or Siemens.
  • Experience working in multi-OEM, safety-critical manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in steel, forging, machining, furnace, or railway manufacturing plants.
