Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer - DevOps to join the Payments Network group and help support, automate, optimize, and scale critical Mastercard services. The role is ideal for a strong DevOps engineer with hands-on Linux administration, automation, CI/CD, observability, troubleshooting, and performance tuning experience. The engineer will work cross-functionally with development, operations, product, and infrastructure teams to ensure highly available, secure, and resilient services running on Linux-based virtual machines and containerized platforms.

Role and Responsibilities

Design, build, automate, and manage scalable DevOps solutions for critical Mastercard applications and infrastructure.

Use automation and advanced monitoring to deploy, manage, and ensure stability and high availability across a large fleet of Linux servers, virtual machines, and containers.

Automate operational, server provisioning, configuration management, and deployment workflows using tools such as Ansible, Chef, Jenkins, Git, Artifactory, Docker registry, and related CI/CD platforms.

Drive continuous integration, build, test, deployment, and end-to-end automation practices in a globally distributed engineering environment.

Perform performance analysis, complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and tuning for services running on Linux platforms, including RHEL/CentOS environments.

Prevent customer impact through proactive monitoring, alerting, observability, and pre-emptive corrective actions; respond to incidents in a timely and structured manner when they occur.

Operate within ITIL practices, including Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, and operational readiness processes.

Partner with development teams to improve application reliability, deployment quality, infrastructure scalability, and production supportability.

Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, code reviews, operational reviews, and technical decision-making for DevOps and platform engineering solutions.

Create, maintain, and improve documented procedures, runbooks, Ansible playbooks, knowledge base articles, and operational best practices.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DevSecOps tools, administration best practices, agile delivery practices, and emerging AI-assisted engineering capabilities.

Mentor junior engineers, promote automation-first thinking, and contribute to continuous improvement across engineering and operations practices.

Participate in a rotational on-call schedule to support business-critical services as required.
